J a m i e ' s P . O . V .

Why me? I think for about the hundredth time today. Ever since my mom told me I would have to go spend the summer with my cousin, I've been dreading the end of school. I'm seventeen years old, there is no way I want to spend my summer vacation in so beat down bus following a band who will never hit it big. I finish packing my things making sure to grab some of my favorite books, works from Edgar Allen Poe. He is just the amount of creepy and suspense that I will need to get through these long two and a half months. I walk outside of my room and into the living area of our huge New York apartment. My mom smiles up at me from the couch.
“I sure am going to miss you.” I don't feel bad about leaving her alone because well one, shes making me go, and two she'll never really be alone. I remember when my dad died, I was only 3 at the time. It left my mother heartbroken, but she's always been a strong and independent woman. She has her own fashion line and boutique. This summer her goals are to start opening chains so I think she's sending me off is her own good.
“You know I could stay if your really going to miss me that much?” I give her a pleading smile and she stands up with her hands on her hips.
“I won't miss you that much.” She pulls me into a tight hug and I realize I will miss her too. There is a knock at the door and our butler grabs it.
“Hey!” I can tell it's my cousin. Even though I haven't seen him in about 4 years, his voice hasn't changed a bit, but he has. The last time I saw him he was 24, just graduated from college and still pretty young looking. Now he has gotten a bit taller than when I last remember and stronger. His boyish features have faded and he's starting to look like an adult. He still has tattoos up his arm, something I've always appreciated, my mother has always despised. “Aunt Carol!” He pulls my mom into a hug.
“Hi, Jason. How have you been?”
“Can't complain. Woah. Little Jamie, my how one has grown!” I try to imagine the last time he would have saw me. Four years ago so I would have been 13. At 13 I was tall and awkward. I was 5'5 and taller than all the boys and girls in my class. I was skinny as a rail and very pale. My blonde hair was cut to my shoulders and I had a full set of braces. Since then, boy have I changed. I grew another inch topping me off at 5'7, but I grew into my height. My chest is full and my stomach is flat. Guys love me for my playful body shape and girls hate me because I can still wear a size two. My legs seamlessly go on for days. UV rays have treated my pale skin well and braces made my teeth fabulously straight. My green eyes have always been piercing, but with my skin a more royal color, they are even more intense.
“Yes, yes. It sure has been a while.” I say as he pulls me into a hug as well. I fix the collar of my black off the shoulder tee shirt feeling a bit off. I look in the mirror to make sure I'm okay. My destroyed cut offs fit the shape of my legs and butt perfectly. My Bad Religion tee shows off the perfect amount of shoulder. My eyes are dark and smokey and my signature bracelets are in place. I have a holographic belt on adding splashes of color to my appearance. Everything seems to be in place-
“My necklace!” I can't believe I almost forgot it! I sprint back to my room and find the tiny sapphire ring on it's chain sitting out on my dresser where I put it so I wouldn't forget it. I fasten it around my neck and instantly feel better. This little ring was given to me by my father and I always wear it somehow. I go back out to where my mom and Jason are waiting.
“Okay I have a cab waiting downstairs are you ready?” Ready as I'll ever be I guess.
