Join us for Dream Machines, our annual exhibition of artist Rowland Emett's whimsical mechanical inventions, running from December 19, 2008 to February 8, 2009 in the Great Hall on Level 2.

The largest single collection of Emett creations is now owned by the Ontario Science Centre and will be on display - including the "The 'Humbug Major' Sweet Machine" made famous in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

  • Wonderful. I flew from the UK to see these, the winter of 2000/2001. I still collect what I can find (and afford) of Mr Emett, and build train models in his style.

He is nothing like well-enough known.

  • : )) thanks so much for your comment.

  • The sad part is that the OSC does not really promote these whimsical machines. Keeps them out of public view and never advertises when they are to be on show.
