Anika Noni Rose was on 'The View' this morning! They showed film footage of Disney's The Princess and the Frog and Anika talked about the movie, and the first time she began singing in public. And thanks to mochamist21 for the heads up--I really appreciate it! :)

  • It is about time people took the time to recognize Ms. Rose's talent, especially after she got lost in the Beyonce/Jennifer Hudson bandwagon with "Dreamgirls".

Not taking anything away from them they are talented, but Anika was just as good.

And I still can't believe she's 37 years old, she seems so much younger than that.

Btw, No SPAM Zone, that's funny !

  • Sorry MsKekeChannel that it took so long to approve your comment. :(

How I long for the good old days when people could just post comments immediately. But since I started getting over 50 Spams a day I added the "No SPAM Zone"! And comments have to be approved. Now Im getting about 20 Spams a day--that will never be posted.

  • It's interesting that Whoopi kept saying "You're a good girl" repeatedly from 7:21-7:25 implying that Anika's response to her question was "politically correct" instead of honest. But Anika defended herself by saying "That's what I believe. If I thought it was wrong [that the princess was a frog most of the time instead of displaying her black beauty as a human] than I wouldn't have done it [played the role]" Whoopi was covertly rude. GREAT JOB ANIKA!

  • sunshaan, Anika did do a great job!!! She was really sharp during this interview. :)

  • I don't think it matters whether the prince is white or black- he spends most of the movie green, anyway!

  • @sunshaan oh interesting, that's what you got from Whoopi saying "you're a good girl"?...I thought that it meant that Anika opened Whoopi's eyes to an angle she never would have considered, and because she liked Anika's answer because it was profound, honest ans sweet, she really respected her answer and realized what a nice person and "good girl" she is...i didn't think it was because she was thinking "oh whatever, you're just too much of a coward to speak the truth" LOL

  • umm anika is the best. so humble, incredible talent, totally sweet and genuine and gorgeous and LOVE THIS GIRL

  • @sunshaan Maybe you are jumping to conclusions of what Whoopi meant. I think she was commending Anika's grace. You know Whoopi is dramatic like that

  • she does actually look like tiana

  • I believe Whoopi was right. Disney knows their audience and they were catering to it. I'm surprised that a woman as bright as Anika didn't see it. We as blacks always accept these little bones that Hollywood throws at us. What we need to do is create our own visionary images of who we are and what we aspire too.

  • She is SUCH a well-spoken, classy and beautiful women! What a princess : )

  • wow. .___.

  • she is sooooo beautiful

  • Anika's expression at 7:28 shut Whoopi up!

  • @captainterrible525 Oh, I know! I love it. Her demeanor blows me away..so inspirational.
