did you use the rear suspension assembly from the miata?

Yeah. That saves a bunch of time, particularly for a beginner like me. Also gives a pretty good assurance that it will actually work right out of the box.
I also used the frame rails to mount the rear subframe, which is a bit more unusual. It might add a tiny bit of weight (5 pounds, tops), but makes mounting easy, gives a good spot to mount the rear roll bar tubes, and the upper shock mounts. We'll see if it pans out.
