How to strip a Miata in under 4 minutes. Goal: Pull everything worth saving for the Locost 7 build: engine, rear subframe, uprights, hubs, brakes, wiring harness (intact!), gauges, seats, steering rack, steering column, exhaust header, hardware, etc. I probably should have sold the tub intact to a Spec Miata racer, but I frankly couldn't get it out of the garage once it was not a roller.

BTW, this video works MUCH better in "High Quality," due to the jerky nature of time-lapse video. There's a link for it just below the video's volume control.

did you use the rear suspension assembly from the miata?

Yeah. That saves a bunch of time, particularly for a beginner like me. Also gives a pretty good assurance that it will actually work right out of the box.

I also used the frame rails to mount the rear subframe, which is a bit more unusual. It might add a tiny bit of weight (5 pounds, tops), but makes mounting easy, gives a good spot to mount the rear roll bar tubes, and the upper shock mounts. We'll see if it pans out.
