Aren't they for sound absorption, not reflection?

So you're gonna hang pillows all around your wall?
The purposes of a pillow and a sheet are different. Try hanging a sheet of pillow at your door, then try sheet. The whole point is kind of missed in this video, nice effort trying to be helpful... I guess...

I liked it showed me exactly what i needed to know. I wanted to soundproof a certain area in my apartment so this video shows me how many sheets i would need to do so.
Thanks for looking out!
All them Negative Nelly's down there lol

What you don't realize is that the sheets aren't made for soundproofing, but for sound absorption. They are made to eliminate echos and sound reflection. It's obvious that you should never pursue a career in acoustics.

Ah, I can get the 8'x3' sheets off their eBay site for $15.
So, for $60 + shipping, I can get the equivalent noise dampening of 6, $10 pillows (+ shipping)? Cool! Sounds like a deal to me! I won't have to sew pillows together; it takes less space; I get consistent edge-to-edge characteristics vs sewn-together-pillows. BTW: how many times have you painted yourself into a corner?

Hmm, an interesting test. What are the the dimensions of a standard pillow? 1.5*2.5 feet about, so they cover around 4 square feet? And the price of a pillow, around 10 bucks? Compared to the 7 sheets which are 3*8 ft each, together covering over 160 square feet, it would take 43 pillows (430 bucks!) to cover the same area. Assuming you want to cover your walls with pillows. I'll stick with my Audimute sheets thanks! About a fourth the cost and looks a lot better than a bunch of pillows!

Thanks for sharing your video to provoke thought about sound and various solutions. Your insight raises many important questions! Audimute receive calls, chats, and emails daily about this. Without getting deep into physics and the material spec req of various sound applications, any viable sound product should have an independent, acoustic lab report and customer references. The application should guide the search for the best solution. In some cases (no pun) a pillow may even do the trick.

it seems more like your testing it for its soundproofing quality rather than absorbtion and anti reflexion. audimute pads are not for soundproofing they are for reflexion (or should i say lack of reflexion.
could you do this test on a apples or oranges foam liner from the grocery store crates?
Tell me if you want me to test with other stuff.
