Rumba Tempestad

This is a rumba by Juan Serrano. My very first attempt at recording this (or anything else for that matter). Sorry for the sound quality but I do not have any proper recording equipment. Never mind the special effects in my facial expressions. That is just me trying to focus and concentrate. Constructive criticism is welcome as this is probably the worst Tempestad on YouTube. Next time I will try not to look so serious!

Yes my apologies i shouldve clarified, well the way i was taught by my flamenco teacher and it seems most other people that i see on youtube play is more of the thumb involved when you strum upwards instead of the index finger. that technique is suited or the occasional "rasgueados". Thats the original way of playing the song. If you want to check out the technique its a basic rumba technique pattern that you can find many videos of.

I totally agree with you. However, I tought I was playing it according to the book but I just checked it again and guess what? I was indeed supposed to use the thumb upstroke. Currently I am playing this with the thumb upstroke preceded by a four stroke rasgueado. Sounds a lot better that way. In due time I will upload my new improved version.

great effort, only problem i found other then your occasional slip ups is your right hand technique. I dunno if you know the technique and are doing that intentionally, other then that great effort a bit more practice with smoothening it out and it would be a good song to come back and visit. I forgot to mention your left hand technique is great!

Thanks for your comments. Can you explain what it is you think I am doing wrong with my right hand? By the way I am working on a variation to this rumba using different right hand rhythms and more rasgueados.

Thanks for your comment. I just my webcam which is obviously not a great camera and I can't get the angle right either. Next I will use my digital camcorder. I could do a faster tempo but I thought I keep it close to Juan Serrano's recording in terms of speed and composition.

Good piece! I love this song and it's not that hard to play. I recommend this song for Flamenco guitars beginners. You'll enjoy it.

k i dont nid a computer to do that taping sound u can do it with ur hand it took me 1 month to do rumba on my hand like that i could play that whole song complete just practice flapping the guitar that all its not really hard at all and im bearly 15 so its not that hard...

Bear in mind that a rumba is meant to be highly rhythmic upbeat and happy compas.

Try it like that.

it's up to you but I would be more creative than following a tune or a tempo that's old or already known..

however you played nice, very nice
