Most cities and towns throughout Mexico do not provide any sewage treatment, and in fact, sewage pipes typically run directly into the local rivers. This is indeed the state of the rivers in most developing countries, hence, most of the world. Such conditions are devastating for both wildlife and humans.

Not only is the river terribly polluted, people also burn their trash regularly. The smell of burning trash, including burning plastic, is commonplace throughout Mexico.

This video is of a creek running through an upperclass neighborhood in Cuernavaca. In other words, such polluted waters are not just confined to poverty stricken areas, they are everywhere. While there is indeed poverty in Mexico there also is considerable, yet concentrated, wealth. As such, environmental issues rest on an informed public.

This isn't just Mexico's problem, it is the world's problem. Ultimately it comes down to priorities both locally and globally.

  • Mass extinction is coming sadly

  • @CSUTAMTAM they would rather come to america, to spread the wealth. soon americas rivers and streams will look like this. poverty prings pollution, corruption, and then civil unrest.

  • Fucking Calderon!!He is so busy fighting the narcos instead of cleaning the rivers.

  • Sadly, very truth and the Mexican goverment doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

  • @pipomenas thank NAFTA your stupid corporation think they can just come here and exploit my land.

  • @Buddyb309 But were there corpses floating? Go watch National Geographics video about Mexico City's sewer sytem. I think you'll find it a bit more barbaric than the USA's decade of the pet rock.

  • @vivalaleta yup, 1800 all the way to 1970's when the environmental protection agency was established. There were some laws before then to make it illegal to dump chemicals into rivers and such. But no one to regulate it.

  • @Buddyb309 Bull shit - when was this? In the 1800's? Maybe it's time for Mexico to catch up.

  • @brianprado44 What!? What I'm saying is true. Mexico City is fucking dirty and many of the rivers of the country are like this. People throw their garbage to the rivers thinking nothing is gonna happen...

  • fukk you
