@5jerry1 he's probably made some sort of treatment and is keeping it secret...or he doesnt have it and has been lying for 50 years lol
-
And he's in even worse shape these days than he was when this interview was filmed. People often die within a few years after being diagnosed with this, and he's had it since the early 1960's. I really don't know how he's hung on this long.

@5jerry1 thanks. that makes sense lol

Was reading comments, noone properly answered you. He has Amyolateral Sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig's Disease. His whole body is paralyzed, save part of his face. He is mechanically hooked up to his computer and wheelchair. He operates them by twitching his remaining functional facial muscles. He can focus his eyes, blink, operate the cursor on his computer/voice box and breathe; that's just about it. But his intellect is still intact.
He seems like a nice guy, too.

I love this man!

Well done, Dr. Hawking!
-
When he smiled at the last question, I almost cried.
-
He always inspires, and now this machine voice is his world wide trade mark.

I love that smile he got when he said 'women', it's nice that he can at least still smile.
Great man
