This is a school project produced from Jonathan's Swift point of view. Jonathan Swift wrote "An Argument Against Abolishing Christianity in England" in 1708, arguing that Roman Catholicism should not abolish Christianity, but also addressing the hypocritical nature of the Church. This video is meant to look through the eyes of Swift as if he were to again confront Christians today.

  • I find it hard to understand what exactly the message is behind this 9-minute-long video. What is the point conveyed here? That Christianity shouldn't be abolished?

  • Christianity didnt start till the 3rd century under the Romans but other religions lasted much longer before hand so morality has NOTHING to do with religion. It might be a guidance as a written form "the bible" but we would survive fine even with no religion; just called evolutionary survival. I encourage you to study History very well (not just high school books) but literally documents, scribes, Phd level books and learn. I enjoyed the interviews though just not in agreement.

  • Im somewhat religious but without being rude if Christianity was abolished I dont think much would change in America. First, our founding fathers werent very religious and thats documented (Jefferson, Washington, Franklin etc). The "common people" aka- RADICALS from England aka "puritans" came over for freedom of religion. Secondly, Morality is evolutionary build within people, like taking care of others, sharing, raising families. Look at any religion (greek, viking, hindu etc) this was common

  • Well maybe not that much, but it will suck if you were a christian...

  • I must way, very well done. I am an evangelical Christian and a New Testament Scholar and I say you have done a great job of "porting" the thought of a past person's thought to the contemporary world using various literary techniques. You've examined the human condition through a literary technique. Bravo!!!! You have potential as a scholar in the humanities (or in the many disciplines in Christian scholarship)!!!!

  • I think if it was Abolished than we couldn't go around calling this country America anymore. That would be unconstitutional. The real question is what if American's chose not to believe this shit anymore. Yes it would be a better place but that's just an impossible dream that we can all strive for.

The pursuit of happiness doesn't necessarily encompass the pursuit of a better nation.

  • wtf 1:31

that guy is one of my cousins....

He makes a good point, a lot of people will look at those points in history and judge based narrowly on that, which is wrong for any viewpoint.

  • Roman Catholicism is a dinomination of Christianity. All who acknowledge Jesus Christ as the son of God and that God raised him from the dead are Christians.

  • Awesome!
