@loopsthroughloops blind people can still produce light within the brain through dreams. like when you see things when you dream its not the eyes that is producing it.

to be aware of the self you do not need to see hear taste or touch to gain pure self awareness always question who am I bring it to the core and that I believe is the basis not light it self but consciousness about who I am break it down and you are light not the sense to see but what composes my conscious .light hope this helped

the same stuff has been taught to us during meditation classes
they usually give references of " vedas "
1. rig veda
2. atharva veda
3. sama veda
4. yajur veda
and 9 upnishads
they are thousands of year old

@loopsthroughloops also, I believe that it all comes back to basic consciousness. Since hearing and touch are still intact, then the person still can perceive the world around them consciously. You do bring up a good point tho.

Wait, why does this presentation end with such fervent optimism? He doesnt successfully unify phenomenon and noumenon by identifying the I with light, and God. On the contrary, there is still that indistinct Nothing of the Night that is left over, that which precedes Light, God, I: "Perturbations of the Absolute", in Russell's own terms. This nothing is unreflective, it is not "photosensitive", it does not appear. And for all that, this is the nothing in which everything is enveloped, in-itself.

@loopsthroughloops They see the world very different from you. Since they cannot rely on light, all of their other senses are much more trained than ours.

@metedude2 their experience is surely very different, but they can still experience light on their skin; heat is a form of light (infrared radiation).

The basic concious existence he portrays is exactly the same as the realisations I have come to in recent years... Especially in saying that "We are God". I find it sad how often such thoughts are dismissed by people who just assume this physical reality is everything. Everyone feels the conciousness, but only a small percentage can see past the "charade" that the conciousness presents to us. Only in death, I believe, will we all see it for what it really is.

What if one does not experience light? i.e. a person who has been blind from birth?

@loopsthroughloops good question :) I can't imagine how a person that's been blind from birth would perceive the world. interesting to thing about... thanks ~ best wishes!

Could there be one conscious field which, by means of its own will, creates the physical reality we experience? Every organism is made from a tiny piece of this field, which starts off with minimum consciousness, not even aware of where it came, and in turn grows in consciousness, depending on what it is. This would be a way for the conscious field to experience something other than loneliness - a good system for itself to get by the neverendingness of its own single existence. Just a thought.

@1simonmatthews Interesting thought :) I do think there may be a fundamental field or dimension of "consciousness" from which our physical reality is derived... I'm reading Tom Campbell's "My Big TOE" now, his theory of everything, and what you say is similar to his model. best wishes!
