  • The lead vocals on this song are by Roland Joe Smith. It's from the album God Gave Me A Song, 1970, which also has "In Paradise".

  • Thank You very much for your help!

  • Does the album say who is doing the featured lead vocals?

  • Unfortunately, I don't have the actual vinyl album. This is one of the many Myrna Summers songs that was transferred to a CD for me. I'll see if I can find out for you though.

  • Thanks......More, more, more please post. God Gave Me A Song? (Anyone....?)

  • A few days ago, I saw that someone had already posted "God Gave Me A Song." I didn't listen to it, so I'm uncertain if it was the first recording of it or the second, but I like the original one better.

  • @Rowoches I still have my original copy and this song still is my all time favorite on this LP, especially at the end when they go into the reprise, just before they start shouting, I miss the old school church days...

  • If you're wondering why they went plumb IN, it's because one of the altos, Lady Carlene Ginyard couldn't take it anymore! My brother was at that studio recording and saw the whole thing. This was not a live recording, but the anointing was so heavy in that place, the dance broke out and it took a while for them to get themselves together. I was too young to witness it, but even Lady Ginyard told me that it was hot and heavy up in there. I'm so jealous that I wasn't there!

  • IT PAYS TO SERVE JESUS

  • This is one of my favorites of Myrna! My father actually has the vinyl album. Every time I talk to Myrna, I tell she needs to re-record this song in it's original format. I think it's still a hot song.

  • You are welcome. What do you think of "You" posted last week?

  • The one that's posted is another version. The original one that Myrna did was an acapella solo.
