MIke Smith & Mike D'Abo "Free As A Bird"

This video is for all DC5 and Mike Smith fans. "Free As A Bird" is a song "Charlie" Smith (Mike's wife) had played at Mike's funeral as white doves were released. It was written by Mike Smith (DC5) and Michael D'Abo(Manfred Mann) and is from their self titled album from 1976. "Free As A Bird" was also released as a single in 1976. If you've never heard it..it is a BEAUTIFUL song. I hope all who view this video and hear this song will enjoy the meaningful and powerful lyrics.

What a special man. I was so heartbroken when he passed so close to their induction. I would have loved to see him take part in that special night. Tom Hanks made it really nice with his intro. Bless you Mike, RIP

Mike Smith was a gifted artist and seemingly genuine person.  He was an inspiration after his accidnet, as were his wife and multiple musicians of that era, who raised funds for the car to allow him to, "get out", with his wheelchair. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits displayed his kindness as did Peter and Gordon, etc.--thanks to all of them for displaying such character, all these years later.

RIP, Mike Smith. ..and Thank you for posting this video.

I did not know Mike had died. I loved the Dave Clark Five. Mike was not only one of the best looking of the English Invasion Rockers, but he was very talented. He seemed to always be smiling.

What a beatiful song!!! I feel a kind of happiness always hearing the DC5 songs, since many many years ago, the voices, the faces, but more than any thing, because of the joy and charm they gave away.
