A short video made utilizing the Canon 5D Mark II, and the Blackbird camera stabilizer from Camera Motion Research (www.camotionllc.com). All content is original and copyright 2009 by Adventure Advertising LLC and Bruce Hyer (www.adventureadv.com).
Anybody that's ever shot video (or stills) on boats knows how difficult it is to hold a smooth shot for any length of time. The Blackbird handled it very well, even when I was shooting from a tower. And the trail running shots (towards the end of the clip) exceeded my expectations by far. I prefer the Blackbird over the other available handheld stabilizers because it's easier to fine-tune, thanks to the fine controls on the camera stage, plus the variable length center bar. It's a good product.

  • nice video. What lens did you use?

  • The 16-35 and 50/1.4. Also the 70-200 2.8 IS (at the beginning). All Canon lenses.

  • its ok but to be great you need to work on you operating skills. these systems tend to rock left to right and it looks bad like on a boat, you need to adjust for this.

  • Woah, the boat shots looks real dangerous but u did well under the strong winds!!!

  • By the way, some people comment on the problem of running a stabilizer in windy conditions, but it seems you didn't have any probs with that. And great shots with the running in the woods!

  • I like this. I have a Blackbird but using with my Canon xha1. I'm guessing the 5DII is a lot lighter!!

Nice to see what it can do from various moving vehicles too - something I haven't tried. Lovely pictures.
