Film Description: Not to be confused with the cinematic classic starring Judy Garland that would follow six years later, this animated short film is one of countless other celluloid adaptations of L. Frank Baum's best-loved story, The Wizard of Oz. Directed by Ted Eshbaugh, the Canadian film features no dialogue and tells the story of Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, and Tin Man's adventures in Oz with a mix of black & white and color animation.

  • This clip has it all wrong. Elphaba would never set Fiyero on fire. ;)

  • Hard to believe this was filmed before Pearl Harbor

  • So how does she cope with humidity?

  • @dolphinportkey7 Haven't been able to watch since I saw Wicked

  • Ding dong the Wicked Witch is dead! Oh the Wicked Witch!!

  • she's kinda made to look ugly in the film but in the play she pretty <3

  • Awkward scene change at 0:27

  • @LaneCormier And in the book Elphaba was a pretty dark character, not the misunderstood but good at heart young woman in the musical. The musical made her more sympathetic.

  • @BatmanDarkGuardian. I know all the Wicked comments on here are ridiculous. Wizard of Oz (both the movie and the book) were written WAY before Wicked, and Wicked is a revisionist on the story. Both stories are fiction, it's not like Wicked is the real account. PEople seem to forget that.

  • It's funny when you see this from the Wicked context, Dorothy was always a stupid tool for the Wizard's evil deeds.

  • why did the witch light fierro on fire?

    i thought she loved him!!!
