@bluegama500 Many pet shops have sold Maremmas as a white golden retriever. Some unethical breeders actually breed this as a designer cross - Golden Mareiver. They also often have a faint hue (pink, fawn, yellow) to their coat as a young dog and not necessarily snowy white. I have owned 2 - both rescued for that same reason and have helped with rescue. Some pet shops don't even know what kind of dog they are selling because they are just retail staff.

I have a maremma, Cara and i've had her since i was 7. I'm now 17 & i have to say, i would not want any other dog. We live in a suburban area and trained her as a pup not to growl when she gets her dinner, not to chew shoes, how to sit and all that jazz..

We've had many other pets.. Rabbits, Chickens, Birds, lizzards even cats and she became best friends with all of them and you could tell she was sad when they left..

Maremmas don't "round up". They guard. I had one, a rescue. The best dog I've ever had.

Who the fuck could be stupid enough to mistake a Maremma for a Golden Retriever.

Even as puppies they both look different. Its amazing how dumb most people are.

I used to breed Maremmas, a lot of people are very intimidated by them, especially because they know very little about them.

They are the most loyal, gorgeous & loving dogs I have ever owned.
