In Radical, David Platt invites you to encounter what Jesus actually said about being his disciple, and then obey what you have heard. He challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated a God-centered gospel to fit our human-centered preferences. With passionate storytelling and convicting biblical analysis, Platt calls into question a host of comfortable notions that are common among Christ's followers today. Then he proposes a radical response: live the gospel in ways that are true, filled with promise, and ultimately world changing.

  • @Insidapc On who's authority do you pick between which of the four gospels has more legitimacy to you? All of scripture is God breathed and divinely inspired. If you chose not to believe part of it, you discount all of it. Examine yourself before you start accusing others of 'misleading.'

  • @Insidapc I urge you to examine his point and this entire book more clearly. He is not telling every Christian to abandon his/her family. The reality he is preaching that God will not rule out leaving those you love for the purpose of Christ. That is Biblical. Matthew 10 -I am sending you out like sheep among wolves... Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child...You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

  • @josephkiim Galatians 5 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

  • I have a friend who went to Africa w/ doctors without borders, he said that the Masaai people there believed that the white man had created all africans because the white man was so much more technically advanced. This is the same level of ignorance/lack of education of the people who wrote the bible, and in both cases of the bible and the masaai beliefs on creation, taking either based on faith alone is ridiculous.

  • Amazing book. Godly man. Totally, completely, whole-heartedly recommend this book for any Christian who desires to have a better understanding of what a sold-out life to Christ looks like.

  • @josephkiim They are, and God reveals himself differently in both. The Old Testament is the old covenant and serves to show the relationship between God and his people but to also show that there is still separation between them that the law cannot fulfill. The New Testament serves to bridge that gap and remove that separation through the life, death and resurrection of Christ in which he perfectly fulfilled the law and became the sacrifice that was necessary once and for all. 1 Peter 3:18

I see. but the two parts of the scripture are really different. what are we supposed to interpret from them?

  • @josephkiim Yes we take the bible literally. But you need to understand that taking the bible literally doesn't mean we pull out certain bible verses completely disregarding their context and make a statement based on one verse. If we do that we misinterpret entirely what God was saying to us through scripture as a whole.

  • @FCBarca720

so we shouldnt take the bible literally?

  • @josephkiim We're talking about the character of God. That does not change. God's wrath and righteous judgement towards sin remains constant throughout history.

  • @FCBarca720

so the parts about beating your wife and slaves and all those weird bible verses (mostly old testament) out there should still be used in todays society?

    okay..
