Shakermaker55 - The house was (and still is) Grade 2 listed and by those laws, these changes shouldn't have been made!

Grade 2, in a nutshell, means that any work carried out is on a like for like basis, retaining the quality and character of the property.

From what I'm reliably told, the council were not happy about this!

I remember these two hardly lasted 5 minutes. I remember watching this episode and thinking "God this stupid idiot is trying to be contraversial like Chris Evans and sticking his chewing gum on to the camera. Idiot!" I had actually completely forgotten about these two. It got better again with Denise, Jonny and that Australian guy from Neighbours. Oh and Dannii Minogue.

This is a prime example of why the fraise "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!" was created! I only vaguely remember the re-vamping of the house when the series was originally on air, but I still remember even back then think "they've completely wrecked the place!" I don't know what it is about it, just so clinical with no character... bit like Sharon Davies & Rick Adams really! Lol
