  • Without being sarcastic, I find it interesting that there seems to be a distinct lack of picky eaters in poorer countries where food in scarce (there are also very few in Europe where food is expensive). Having traveled extensively I have never come across picky eaters like these exept for in the US. Could it be that in America we simply have the 'luxury' to be difficult?

  • Dear LegalAlien100

We have support groups made up of people from all over the world. Many from Europe and other english speaking countries. How would you ever know if there are people like us in the poorer countries.

  • "I don't care what doctors say, I don't care what your family says, this is not in your head. This is the real deal." is a rather ignorant thing to say. There are people that have not even tried the foods they don't want to eat, so yeah, with some people it's all in their heads. Sure, there are people with a legitimate condition, but you can't say that every single person that claims that they have a medical issue is correct.

  • physiological*

  • some children have acid reflux after certain foods so they develop aversion to certain foods very young. then they are left with this continued fear with no recollection of the phisiological root cause.

  • I´m an adult picky eater from Spain. Sadly, my english is not good, and there are a great lack of information and literature in spanish about this disorder. The people around you always think that you are a bizarre or stupid person. Is tough.

  • @rkrause957 Well, they can't afford to be picky. They are probably all dead.

  • @veronicakills1010 It is not about time. Would you say the same to a person with light sensitive eyes, or kids with over sensitive hearing, or what about people who allergic to certain fibers? Taste is not different. Look up "supertasters"...It is genetic.... Duke University is doing a study as we speak. Picky eating is real. Yes some grow out of it but thousands of us to not. It is also multi-generational.

  • sounds like sensory processing disorder (spd) to me
