Part three :) Comments make me verrrry happy ;D

Once inside, Miley got a huge hit of a familiar sent. The house, the whole house smelled just like Nick. It smelled like his cologne and his shampoo. Even after all these years, he still smelled the same. Some things never change. Nick motioned for her to sit down and she did. Nick left to go into the kitchen and when he came back, he was carrying two glasses filled with ice and two cans of diet coke.

"Sorry if you're not a fan of diet, that's all I've got. I haven't gotten accustomed to having people over to my own place. Usually I just have whatever I like." He gave Miley a small smile and sat down the drinks.

"Diet's fine." She mumbled. Without skipping a beat, Nick chimed in, "So. Earlier, before you knew Delta was here, what did you want to talk about?"

Miley took a sip of her drink and scrunched her nose up. She hated the taste of diet and she was pretty sure Nick knew that but didn't say anything. "I wanted to talk about you. And me. Well, us. And where we stood right now."

Nick watched her place the diet coke down and push it far off into the table's corner. He smiled and pointed to the can of coke, "That is where we stand."

"We're in a corner?"

Nick laughed and Miley suddenly relaxed at the sound of his laughter. "No, I didn't mean WE are in the corner, I meant that's where our, uhm, relationship stands."

Miley gave him a weird look, so he continued to explain, "Remember when you came over to my house and I offered you diet coke? You took it because you didn't want to seem rude or offend me, so you drank it. You drank the whole coke and every time you took a drink you looked like you wanted to throw up. That was when we first started going out. But then when we got comfortable with each other you told me you actually hated diet coke. You said you wanted me to know everything about you and so even though you thought it would hurt my feelings for not liking the same things I do, you still told me, and from then on I knew we had that connection."

"So what you're saying is that by me saying diet coke was fine I was lying to you?"

"No no no, not lying, we just aren't where we used to be. We went backwards instead of forward. We went back to being awkward around each other just so we wouldn't upset the other one. That's where we stand right now. You're too afraid to upset me."
"So you want me to be completely honest with you?"

Nick looked at her and smiled knowing she finally got it. "Yes. But not just you, me also. I want this little talk to be completely honest. Everything lay out on the table. No secrets. If I pissed you off at some point, tell me so I know I did something wrong. And I'll do the same. Deal?"

Miley looked around his living room and knew the next hour of her life would probably the hardest thing she ever did. She just hoped there weren't going to be any tears involved.

"Deal." She agreed.
