This is what stations in the the other time zones watched when the ABC coverage went to the stations in the east for their updates. Sam Donaldson took over for a few minuets and run's down the races.

Donaldson seemed like he did not want to be doing it, but I thought he did good. In 1976 he was replaced in this spot by Steve Bell as Donaldosn became the correspondent for Carter
