In Part I of this series we offered some general insights regarding culture in the M&A context and the various stages during which culture can enter the conversation. We also shared some activities that can support culture integration at each of these stages. In Part II of the series Angie will share specific best practices used by Reynolds American throughout their merger integration effort. We hope you will find these insights and practices both useful and thought provoking.

Angie Maninno is an accomplished HR executive with over 20 years of experience who understands how to develop human capital, instill strong cultural values and enhance organizational effectiveness. In her position as Vice President of HR, Culture and Change at Reynolds American, Angie was responsible for the successful cultural integration in the merger between Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. This successful merger resulted in the newly formed company exceeding all financial goals. Angie's responsibilities included HR strategy development and planning, a new high performance rewards structure, a new leadership development plan, and corporate culture change initiatives. Angie developed culture strategies and tactics to create a new "high performance" culture. Additionally, Angie developed and implemented a plan to prepare employees for changes related to the new company & new culture.Currently, Angie Mannino is SVP of HR for Inova Health system. Inova Health System is Northern Virginia's leading not-for-profit healthcare provider, employing over 16,000 and serving more than 1 million people each year.
