College Football Orange Bowl Virginia Tech Hokies versus Cincinnati Bearcats (-2) January 1st (8PM ET) (FOX)
Cincinnati put together a nice 11-2 season to win the Big East and Virginia Tech is a 4 loss team playing a BCS Bowl Game. Virginia Tech is fully one dimensional on offense as it averages 168 yards rushing an only 128 through the air. Cincinnati faced two strong rushing teams down the stretch and pulled off victories over Pitt and West Virginia. Tony Pike has played well under center for the Bearcats hitting on over 62% of his passes. Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly wants his squad to show a national audience that his program deserves to play in the Orange Bowl. This is a very high profile game for the Cincinnati program and very important for Kellys recruiting. Cincinnati has been a football program that struggles for attendance at home and could go a long way to getting the alumni behind this program. Virginia Tech is already a high profile program from the ACC behind head coach Frank Beamer. The ACC has lost the past 3 Orange Bowls. Heck Beamers teams have lost 4 of 5 bowl games. Cincinnati is looking to improve this programs profile in front of a national audience in prime time. There is too much at stake here for this program. Cincinnati comes to play here. Take Cincinnati 2.
Selection: Cincinnati -2
