i watch the cams and read the wolf logs regularly and i'm starting to recognize all of the wolves by their faces but...malik and shadow i still can only recognize by their actions

Yeah, you can tell the difference between all of them except Shadow and Malik. And there so beautiful. Its so awesome to have this never ending footage of wolves. Very much appreciated IWC.

It's hard to get an ID on the arctics from a distance, we often ID them by their behavior. But, if you get a close up look, Shadow has a darker muzzle and has more roundish eyes. Malik has the classic almond shape eyes, and has a narrow muzzle. Shadow also has a broader skull.
