Lexus is FLOPPING in Europe because they don't offer a diesel. The IS220d is a joke: it comes with 1/3 of the safety systems offered by the IS250 and the IS220d is not even available with an automatic transmission option: Audi, BMW and MB all offer an A/T option on their lower end diesels. Lexus says their "serious" about Europe, but then they don't give me that impression.

You fail to realize that hybrids POLLUTE in another way. What do we do with their batteries once they're spent? Ever thought about that?

And hybrid are overhyped. They're efficient in the city. Period. Drive an RX400h in the countryside and it's a gas-guzzler. Varios roadtests here in Europe have confirmed that.

And this is not a bash against hybrids - just mentioning the facts.

A hybrid is GOOD for the city, but for the ultimate in fuel saving, a hybrid diesel is better. Diesels are inherently more efficient than gasoline engines. A diesel-hyrbid will obtain good MPG within the city and in the rural areas, its diesel engine will ensure a low fuel consumption. I'm not dissing hybrid technology, but Europeans, me included, just love our diesels more.

i love how people say one reason hybrids are bad is because the battery left over when the cars done. hybrids use electric motors, not big ass batteries dumb ass

@cawimmer430 Did you know that Lexus is sold under the name of Toyota in Japan? Toyota decided to change their luxury cars to Lexus ONLY because of their North America market. So they targeted American cars, and succeeded very well. The number one selling car in North America is Toyota Camry, and the number one selling brand car in North America is Toyota (and Lexus).

@Lionkingcirclelife I must agree with carwimmer, the batteries themseleves cause a lot of polution even before there mount on the car. The Lexus hybrid line wasn't intended to be eco-freindly it mot geared towards performance and thats why the GS has more power compared to the GS430 (discountued)

I have this car ...I dont care about milage it's power & silence ,,,Love BMW but too noisy .Love the hidden power .

PS some countries ie. JORDAN don't allow disel cars in .

The problem with desiel is that you need a trubo for any good of power & that will bust in 60k-10k km

I like this car because it is truly unique. Technically, this is the only true hybrid sports car on the market -- and you feel superior with two actual electric motors onboard. The Lexus IS and ES are for anyone who can afford a lexus; the LS is a limo; the LSh is for the superrich, but the GSh... i dunno. i see it as "unique." rare. out of the crowd.
