It's the nuking magic that kills me. If elves could have killed orcs with mere words in the books, I doubt they'd have had as much trouble as they did.
Magic in Middle-earth was subtle -- that's just lost on this MMO's developers.
Im a big fan of tolkien´s books (member of tolkien society of my country), and the lore behind the rune keerper exists in the magic of middle earth, its a natural way of things for elves and dwarfs , maybe its exagerated i understand but its a game.
Take you own advice: the runes on the Doors of Durin don't shoot lightening or fire, and Elrond didn't use Runes... he used Vilya, a Ring of Power. Sorry, but I know the lore better than you give me credit for.
If you would care, thres a lore behind the runekeeper, they are people in the likes of elrond or some other elven lords tha modify things through the power of the runes(just look at the power of the runes in the gates of moria), so dont go saying things if you dont know the full story
I have to agree with Palle016. This game just isn't like Lord of the Rings, whether it's the movies OR the books. Convenient things like Fast Travel options are fine. Mage-nuker classes are just cheesy. It's a shame to see such a promising title go the way of the "B-movie."
I was first bothered by the proportions. You know like how long it takes from Shire to Rivendell in the books compared to the game and so on... Many things that aren´t really as they are in the book, but I see the book and the game as 2 separate things, so when I read the book, I´m all into the lore. When I play, I´m all into it. See the books with the lore, and the game with the lore-breaking stuff as to different things and you should be happy. At least I am.
This is ruining LOTRO. I don't play, but I feel sorry for those who does. I was thinking of starting to play once again, but this seriously puts me off. This is not what I once started to play LOTRO for - Mage nuker classes
can easily be found in other big games where they belong.
