  • what's your daw and any other equipment you're using? cuz i really like it!

  • Thanks man I am glad you like it, I am using the digi 003 rack to record, Rode NT1A on the acoustics mixed with the DI signal, the electric guitars are D.I signal with gearbox amp models, full spec list is in description

  • @chuckawobbly thanks for the reply man! i'm using a toneport right now with reason and superior drummer and it seems to be all i need at the moment for drums, guitars and bass, but i think i need a new mastering program. i'm gonna look into ozone after seeing this

  • Ozone can be tricky, it has taken me over a year to understand the mastering process (self taught). But it is an overall fantastic program and can make your mix breathe.

  • Oddly enough I've never really used Melodyne. I have it running in Pro Tools but I haven't ever used it. Any advice?

  • yup spot on, I can fix it now with melodyne.

  • He probably tuned it perfectly but the intonation is off, causing different locations on the fretboard to be out of tune. That can be amazingly frustrating.

  • I understand completely. Have you checked out The Art of Mixing? I could get that for you too. I own some great books.

  • thanks man, I recently got melodyne and am learning to use it to tune bass, my next 2 mixes have the bass completely tuned, my bass is just shit and does not handle pitch correctly the further down the fret board you go.

That book, is that Bob Katz? If so I have some chapters under my desk, I have not read them properly yet because I am still learning to mix. Baby steps :p

  • Your mixes are constantly improving. You definitely enjoy the present mix. I've heard many folks talk about the older they get - the less present their mixes become. But then again, you should check out The Art of Mastering. It will explain to you that every action has an equal and opposite reaction - raise the highs and lose some lows. It's a neat concept. I could get the book for you, just let me know.
