About on par with c64's 'International Soccer', speed and playwise. Not as colorful, granted, but it IS clever to distinguish the player you control from your teammates via the boots.

Match day 2 was far better in my opinion! :-)
Just wondered, did you ever play match day 3 on the playstation?? Super match soccer ?? If you did, did you rate it??

I never played it. It was apparently a disaster and pretty much died a quick death. It's a shame, but many of the 8-bit programmers struggled to recapture their glory days when moving onto the more modern platforms. I remember Mike Singleton's awful Lords of Midnight game for the PC - what a load of poo that was.

Along with the Emlyn Hughes game, this was one of the best football games on the Spectrum.
