It's not whack. The song/beat is influenced by and complementing the 70s song I Will Survive. The verse at 2:54 is from that song, u gotta know that cuz that song is timeless. That is y the video has the disco ball, roller skaters and Nicole's hair as such at 2:54 to channel that 70s era. And both songs share the same meaning if u read into it which is essentially to survive and recover from a breakup.
