I contacted WDR many years ago when I first heard about these tracks as they were from the one hour live televised Rockpalast concert we did for them back then, but WDR had lost the master video in their tape store. These five tracks from the TV concert were included in a WDR breakfast discussion show that was broadcast a few days after the Rockpalast show. Very un-German I thought at the time!

I like this band a lot better than Rockpile. There, I said it.

Nick Lowe looks and sounds a lot like Gram Parker here.

I like Elvis' version better as he put a couple more chords in the break.
Everyone but the drummer getting a turn up front, which brings up the question: who sang what on "Despite It All" aside from Nick on "Country Girl" and "Love Song?"

Did people really listen and enjoy this utter bland dire shit in the 1970s? This really is the blandest band from the 70s!! And Showaddywaddy and that bunch of twats dressed in tartan were around at the same time!!

They certainly were having some laughs in that studio. Chick introducing them makes Bob Harris look like Crusty the Clown...
