Zenyatta Dances at Oaklawn (4/8/2010)

Zenyatta schools in the paddock and dances down the homestretch at Oaklawn Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas -- Thursday April 8, 2010 around noon.

This movie is part of a project I am making called "Desperately Seeking Zenyatta" (link: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Desperately-Seeking-Zenyatta/112050...)
It details my vacation to Hot Springs, Arkansas to see the Apple Blossom and Arkansas Derby horse races. I have been following and photographing the undefeated champion mare as she prepares for a bid to tie Citation and Cigar's unbeaten 16 win streak.

I am an artist and aspiring fiction and turf writer. I use my pictures as inspiration for drawings, paintings, and stories. I have been making art and writing stories since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and have been following horse racing for nearly as long. I grew up in the Louisville, KY area and the Kentucky Derby was a major event. I love all types of horses and horse sports, but Thoroughbred racing is my favorite. Zenyatta is my favorite horse still racing; other favorites are Ruffian, Forego, and Kelso.

I have still camera pictures of her schooling in the paddock on that Thursday; haven't uploaded those to a picture hosting site yet. So many to go through! For my other videos of the post parade, stretch run, winner's circle ceremony, etc., see moonwalker424. I had to choose between videos in the paddock on race day or seeing the race itself, and of course I chose to stay on the rail! Oaklawn was packed and one couldn't run back and forth from rail to paddock to rail at race time.

I have video of her in the post parade of the Apple Blossom, the end of the race and afterwards in the winner's circle. Having trouble posting due to faulty internet connection at hotel.

I think she outdid herself with her dancing today. It's the most I've ever seen her do it.

I really feel sorry for some folks who think they know something about a subject, make statements, like horseshoegirl1. Anyone who know anything about horses and the sport know the one thing you have to do with a thoroughbred is maintain control for their own safety. The other thing is, Zenyata's connections all love her so much, eacy of them would sleep with her if necessary, and I am almost positive that at one time or another, John and Ann have done so! They love this mare like no other!

i hope she win them all. I saw Barbaro win the derby i cried when I saw the photo of her w her leg broke & she was trying to still run.

shes cute iv watched several vids and iv come to the conclussion that she is dancing lol i did think she acted a bit lame but she is dancing lol

Zenyatta is a heartbreaker, she first toys (plays) with the other horses and then she says "See ya ".....eat my dirt.
