If you can't buy your dream airplane, build it. Here's the ¾ Grumman F9F Panther copy that John Gross has built in SE Qld. He flies if quite regularly. Looks great, noisy as all heck with that jet howl. This is it at the 2010 Watts Bridge Festival of Flight. 28 and 29 August 2010.

  • i want one!! where cai i get it???

  • @brucenash , see response from flugel1944. You could find one in your garage after a few years of design and construction. He tells me that it's a delight to fly. You can see some more of it in Watts Bride All-in Fly-in 2011 Pt 1.

  • Cant believe 1274 people have watched this video and Its only got two thumbs up, whats going on. That was an awesome plane.

  • @lowtus7 Still is an awesome plane. More to come from 2011 Fly-in. Looks good, sounds good. Thanks for the comment.

  • 200 lbs thrust engine Sweet lol

  • I believe the first time he flew it he stalled and nearly spun it. I have seen cockpit footage of the heart stopping moment.

  • Tight work man !!

  • Coolest homebuilt ever!!

  • @flugel1944 Thankyou John for your response and story. You are much appreciated, both for your contribution here and with the Panther. Thanks. Look forward to more as the opportunity arises.

  • You designed it too?! What a sweet machine, I would like to learn more and congrats on your marriage, the world should take notes, that's a bigger feat than the plane, 25 years! :)

  • @MrDesolate1 The design & construction of the JG2 took 8yrs of spare time, if i want a laugh i just remember how long i thought it would take me to design and build the aircraft and modify the GET58 engine. Because the aircraft was built from "raw materials" Fibreglass, Balso and Carbon the costs were fairly low. Basic steam gauges adorn the cockpit. I was careful not to keep a record of the costs. Judy, my wife of nearly 25 years is long suffering and definately the best one so far!!

  • Ok, how much? Time, Money, lost relationships LOL!
