part 2 of 2 of a solo 'walking blues', which gets its name from the moving bass line played througout the song.

Double hammer-on's and other embellishments are added to the chord riffs of part 1 of this blues guitar lesson so as to improve the sound of the song. 6th in series of solo song lessons.

  • It's not really an attempt to teach via internet instead of in person. It is however designed to get people motivated. In all these lessons on youtube we're just scratching the surface. It really can go on forever.

  • Hey John, thanks for the video! Did SRV incorporate this in his 'rake' style?

  • Very much like his tune, 'Pride and Joy'...Thanks

  • your really a good teacher ...I hope you do a lesson on Django someday ..... like Brazil

  • I'm very weak at Django. Since I don't listen to his music I have no feel for it. It reminds me of gangsters and old criminal types and I can't shake that impression for some reason. There's great Django players these days and it seems like there's a huge revival with festivals and all. Try and find out who's who in that medium.....John

  • John I totally love your lessons and style, I always used to think I had to pick everything, now I am really starting to see that using your fingers gives a beautiful blues tone and sound. I was wondering if you are familiar with Lightin' Hopkins style of blues, it seems along the same lines as these lessons. I was hoping you might give a few lessons on his finger style with the shuffle blues approach. Keep up the great lessons, you are helping so much.

  • Yes to Lightin' Hopkins. I perform "High Price Blues" a tune written by him. His style is all fingers. Once you get a good tone from the guitar even the simple slow stuff sounds good. Thanks for your comment.........John
