On May 5, 2009, eight activists, (n/k/a "The Baucus Eight"), refused to remain silent! They dared to stand up to the self-important Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT), in the Dirksen Building, and to shout at him: "Why isn't Single Payer on the table?" They were quickly arrested for challenging a system rigged in favor of powerful Special Interests. On May 13, 2009, over a thousand advocates for a Single Payer Health Care System stormed Capitol Hill to rally for their cause. Many came from as far away as California. Later, they headed for the Senate and House Office buildings to lobby for HR 676 and S 703. This photo slideshow reflects just some of their stirring advocacy.
