Ive always liked the Idea that the Borg came from VGer or that they r atleast connected in some way, nice video.

Actually this story doesn't make much sense, because around the 1450's of our time the Vaadwaurs encountered the Borg, this was before V'ger was even build and he didn't come back earlier so! And before you ask this was said in the Episode Dragon's Teeth of Star trek Voyager.

Interesting theory but only a theory....

@PeachWookiee Right, and I'm specifically talking about the main title (Star Trek: First Contact OST 1 Main Title/Locutis, if you want to hear it). When the opening credits end, and the camera pulls back from Picard's eye to reveal that he's standing in a Borg alcove, you hear the same sound--a sort of weird, metallically a-harmonic chord--that V'Ger made throughout The Motion Picture. I think it shows up a couple more times, too.
By the way, how awesome was Jerry Goldsmith?
-
@thespecialneedsgroup That doesn't surprise me in the least. Jerry Goldsmith composed the score for both movies. He also composed the music for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis.

@PeachWookiee Speaking of cannon, There are some neat canonical hints--or at least in-jokes--that V'Ger and The Borg Collective were in some way connected. The most obvious one was the Borg echoing something Spock said after he mind-melded with V'Ger: "Any show of resistance would be futile, Captain." Also, if you listen to The Borg theme from First Contact, you might notice some similarities to the sound track of The Motion Picture, witch I think was intentional.

The Borg a.k.a google

I always liked the theory that, at the end of Motion Picture, when V'Ger merges with Decker and Ilia, that's the first instance of a Borg. When V'Ger 'assimilated' an organic, they became one, thus making this new being the first Borg Queen or King. S'always how I like to think of it.
-
I think I like the theory that you'll find in Strange New Worlds VI, under "Beginnings" better than this because this just comes back to the humans are the all-important species in the galaxy...

The Borg are what would have happened if AOL bought the world.
This is the dumbest origin story.

@melkortito they did say it fell throgh a black hole where space AND TIME were in flux, it is logical to assume that v'ger was thrown back in time and began the collective, but thats only me playing devil's advocate
