  • god you suck at driving in general

  • @Moltixar

    Thank you Mr. Obvious :-)

I suck at the strp to begin with, and wheel hop only exacerbates it.

  • this is prolly a stupid question but what exactly causes wheel hop to happen?

  • If you could answer that question, and derive a fix, you'd be a millionare ;-)

It is a "characteristic" of IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) cars. Many theories around on what causes it and how to fix it, but what works on one car doesn't fix it on another. It sure sucks though.

In my case, it was from running street tires on a 440 hp car.

  • Time for some drag radials :)

  • Got M/T ET Street bias plys. Went to Benton, IL (see video I posted), and when I got them hot enough, she just hooked...and no wheel hop.

  • Dozedrift..sorry to say but you may just be the biggest dick ever....I bet this man has done more for his own country than you will in your lifetime. And you think you can do better than he can? have you driven a real car? Because when i go to your profile and see a bunch of videos of you playing a stupid video game.

  • @ShoddyHog run your tires cold, do not use slicks. changing suspension is just a band aid cure.one cure is to have your drive train upgraded. two step launch control on the other hand is the solution by far without axle/spring/bushing etc changes.

  • @ShoddyHog it usually is the tires. cant provide enough grip or have a terrible pattern for W.E your trying to do with your car. << my millionaire guess

  • @natrone55 Wheel hop is caused by the tire repeatedly spinning and then grabbing, over and over. It doesn't only happen with independent suspension cars, it occurs with solid axle cars, also. It just occurs more frequently and is more defined with independent suspensions. Radial tires also increase chances of, and amplify, wheel hop over bias ply tires. If wheel hop is a problem for you, then get some bias plies.

  • @ShoddyHog wow man please don't drive near me then:l

  • @Moltixar we all have to start somewhere

  • I feal bad for that GTO ;(

  • @crazypetemustang you should swap out for the SRA. On the road courses with a little work it still performs just as well as the IRS if not better. And on the strip its not even close the SRA is the way to go.

  • My cobra has irs its really hard to fix wheel hop because its not ment for the strip its ment for the road course but i notice in my case at least when you went to full adjustible shocks and got drag racing coils it stopped it, but it will jack the back of your car up a inch or two broke several u joints and a axle so i defientley would try to fix it quick
