Nike Missile site

this is an old missile site in Cromwell Connecticut.This is the radar location the actual missile launch site is 10 mins down the road to Mile rd in Middletown

@hadd13 where are missile sites in mass ? i have always wondered if there one hidden in the quabbin which used to be a bombing test site

I used to live near there, on North Rd. It was torn down by the time I was born, but my mom said you could see the big dome thing from our house. Wish I could find more pictures... :/

I found this by chance. I was stations on this site in 1964. I was assigned as a Regular Army Custodian to the Conn. National Guard. Enjoyed the area. My youngest daughter was born in Middletown.

I go there every once in a while its cool to see where ive been and how it looked back then. Theres a hill on the right more woods on the top and fox meadows down and right

I think they are going to tear it down, Now I asked peeps that live there and got many diffrent stories (condo s next to it) go on 372 in cromwell behind friendlys take a HARD left and follow the rd in the back check it out I found the old pics on line hours of research. I have gone to 4 in CT so far my next trip is to Mass. their they still look like missile sites check it out on google earth

thats to bad....yeah i don't know either but we went up there a long time ago but we chickened out....we just went there like a week ago.....the gate was open..we talked about and we drove in (almost got stuck) all the way to the end....wellllll it turns out my digital camera was ded...so we had to go to cvs and get a bunch of throwaways......sorry i cant post them.......but im starting to really get in to finding these....so idk

I grew up in Cromwell. My friends and I went up there when we were young kids in the late 80's. We were able to go in and out of all the buildings. I wish I had taken pictures of it back then. It got really overgrown only a few years after that. I think it's a matter of time before the place is knocked down to build houses.

yea its pretty crazy? there is a video of some kids going into the bunker/missile storage area in glastonbury they need a better flash light but it is still neat
