Counter-Demonstration against Minutemen and John Birch society and their racist and fascist ideas. Joined by many left organizations, community members and immigrants, called for by the Freedom Socialist Party and Radical Women.

No one has ranches in Seattle so they don't know what it's like to have the dregs of human society streaming across your property.

You would do the same thing as the minutemen if your homeless camp was invaded by aliens.

theya re not "the dregs of human society" they are victims of NAFTA crushing their local economy - they have no choice but to migrate to find work. They are HUMAN BEINGS, not "illegals" or "aliens" All people, regardless of nationality deserve food, shelter and a decent living! We need to stop dividing ourselves up and start fighting the real enemy - global corporations.

They are saying it's wrong for the police to protect American citizens right to free speech. That says a lot about the socialist/communist opposition protest leaders. Free speech is not valued under those systems, so I guess it's no suprise they decry free speech.

While you, igirl76 may not consider yourself to be homophobic, or racist, or sexist, Your seemingly mainstream ideas of national soveriegnty against "evil invasions" actually help build a xenophobic movement that can turn fascist very quickly. We are a global society of workers, we need to unite with people across borders and fight for human rights, not be divided and abused by corporations and governments who support them.

How is defending America's national sovereignty un-American? My ancestors were the first people in America and I would proudly stand by these good Americans to defend my homeland from destruction, not so much by illegal immigrants, but by our own government.

America was founded by immigrants. It is the most hypocritical thing in the world to say that we should shun them. Oh, and the PD has no right to "crack heads", seeing as the Constitution you on the right claim to love so much guarantees them the right to a peaceful protest. Read the law before making judgment on it.

What has gotten lost in all this "who's a Nazi" silliness, and txgirl almost touched on a while back, is that NAFTA victimizes workers everywhere. It is intentionally structured to force poor workers, who would starve waiting for "legit" work visas, to sneak across the border. Without legal status, they are an exploitable, disposable cheap labor force and a weapon for employers to fight unions and depress wages. They aren't the problem.

These hypocritical counter-demonstrators are vexed by the fascism of these minutemen, and a few minutes later talk about how they should have no right to voice their opinion. Freedom of speech is guaranteed under the first amendment! It doesn't surprise me in the least that these people would equate the Constitution with toilet paper. I thought some of the minutemens' signs were ridiculous, and this movement should be about saving our national sovereignty, not the color of anyone's skin.
