Here's one of the Canadian promos that promoted Band Of Brothers during it's run on conventional TV. A Canadian angle was used by interviewing veterans from the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. Some of them trained with members of Easy Company in Georgia and many of their experiences are similar in battle (both jumped on D-Day, both were involved in the Battle of the Bulge, and both spearheaded the attack into Germany). In fact 1 Can Para was adjacent to Bastogne while Easy was surrounded there, only a few miles away. They offered help, but in the end Patton's tanks arrived to reinforce the position, then the Germans withdrew. The men of 1 Can Para were also involved in Operation Varsity (the crossing of the Rhine). This promo focuses on the liberation of a concentration camp - Easy Company was in southern Germany when they liberated a camp, while 1 Can Para was in the north, liberating Bergen Belsen along with the British. This spot includes some of their memories of that time. For more indepth interviews and the story of 1 Can Para, check out my DVD Victory From Above. A good book to read about them is Tip Of The Spear. Enjoy!
