Congratulations on taking the first step to adding 50lbs or more to your bench press. The first thing you should do is watch the video to the left. It is very important that you completely understand all of the techniques, and body positions before you move on to training. In fact you should re-watch this video at the start of every week.

  • I still can't see whats more benificial from pushing the bar from your chest and straight up, or pushing the bar from your chest and then positioning it straight over your upper chest.

  • @haraldg This way you using more muscules groups and have more power witch mean you will lift more weigths.

  • Yeah i know. I see why I'm supposed to hit my upper belly, but I don't know what's more benificial from hitting the upper belly and go straight up (still holding the bar over my upper belly), or hit the upper belly and position the bar over my chest. U see? I know Dave Tate has been unclear about that too. It seems as if it varies from person to person what works the best...

  • @haraldg In lock position bar is over ur shoulders. On bottom is on ur bely. U can t lockout with arm angled toward ur bely, must be 90 dgr.

  • theres a list on the wall at my gym of all the people who can bench at least 315 and I was unable to get on it until just this morning. the reason is that I watched this video just a few nights ago and it made my bench 60 pounds stronger! I just wanted to say thanks for making such a great instructional video and keep up the good work. oh and also, it would be GREAT if you would make similar videos for the squat and deadlift... your advice is the only advice that has ever worked for me.

  • Bro ur info really helped me , a LOT ! Thanks =D
