  • Beautiful, but in my copy of the Missouri Harmony, #138 is "Ode on Science." I think this song is of more recent vintage.

  • Yes, this song was composed in 1996. My song numbers for the Missouri Harmony refer to the 2005 edition, and no doubt you have the old facsimile version. The 2005 edition was done by singers in St Louis. They omitted all songs now in The Sacred Harp, reasoning that those songs are easily available to shape note singers. They also added several songs, old and new, and assigned new numbers throughout. It's a fine collection, but not your old original version.

  • Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I have the facsimile and didn't know there was a more recent edition. I love this "Ten Thousand Charms" and have sung it many times with my friends in Seattle.

  • The beauty of the new edition is that it's so much more legible! I sometimes wonder how they managed to read those old original tunebooks, with only daylight or candlelight!
