This is a video I took of Lenny Zook's (who can be seen in the background) 1/4 scale model of a 6 HP Reid Oil Field engine. Lenny built this model from a kit, modifying it slightly by adding more brass parts.

The Engine that it is a scale model of is a 6 HP Reid Oil Field Engine, which were used in the late 1800s for pumping oil in PA.

  • Actually I didn't build it, but yes, it was a kit, although I don't know how the RPM compares to the full-scale jobbies... Looks to be a bit faster, but I can't really say.

  • do you know where to get parts for these? i have been looking all over for some oilers and other parts..if you know please let me know where i could go to find parts..thank you

  • What a good looking engine. Was this a kit you had to finish machining or pretty much ready to assemble. Does it run the same rpm as the full size engine. Phil
