Tifa's whole life seemed to revolve around loss. First her parents died before she could even keep a memory of them in her mind, and then Zack left her.
But maybe that was her fault. She knew Zack was sick from the beginning, and no one recovered from Geostigma, they just got sicker and sicker. Maybe she shouldn't have let him into her heart, but she was young and didn't know how their love would bloom.
She was too young to notice when Zack would cover his face in a fake smile or why he would wander the streets alone. And she didn't really know why she didn't tell she was sick either; she didn't tell him the abuse she suffered from the people that did know.
It was as she got older that she understood his anxiety. Though Zack seemed less affected than Tifa, he seemed as thought he could smile more easily.
And it was these years he seemed to get better, Tifa never saw any of his Geostigma attacks anymore, but Tifa seemed to get worse. She would become dazed in front of Zack and would be found unconscious. So many times she thought he would figure her out.
But then came the days he wouldn't come back, sometimes she would see him with a blond girl, other times he just wouldn't come back at all.
Sometimes he was gone for days or weeks at a time, so Tifa didn't think about it when he didn't come home again. But then months passed and Tifa knew he wasn't coming back anymore.
Years passed before Tifa was finally able to open her heart again. It was a young man named Cloud, who reminded Tifa heavily of Zack. But he also had Geostigma, and his time was less than Tifas'. The majority of the days he suffered but wouldn't let Tifa feel sorry for him. And it wasn't long before she lost Cloud too.
Tifa had every intention of spending the rest of her days alone after that until she died, and when she is at the old church one morning it seems her wish is going to come true. She was writhing on the floor as Geostigma attacks wrack her body. But then her body was in strong arms.
She is picked up and taken some where to be cared for.
"I'll admit, things havent been normal at all lately," a voice sighed. A voice Tifa knows all to well.
Shakily, she stands up to face this man; he looks smug and happy he is surprised when Tifa punches him and knocks him to the floor. So when she walks to him again he braces himself for another attack, only she falls into his arms and kisses him. The night quickly disappears and in the morning Zack stares at the sleeping Tifa before holding her tightly in his arms.
The next day they are ready to continue their lives, they visit the old home they used to share and are busy making plans when Tifa notices her bandages. She knows that if Zack seems them he'll know of her sickness. She snaps at him with out thinking, when Tifa sees he's upset she apologises but is interrupted when the doors swing open and a blond runs in. Zack is visibly thrilled to see her and this upsets Tifa, so she quietly goes to hide her bandages.
"You have the Stigma too?" the girl asks.
So Zack tells Tifa his and Stella's story. How they were cured of their ailments and how he came back.
Tifa is not convinced and believes this to be to good to be true so Zack tells her to come and see for herself.
