sort of...... this copy pulled from an old beta tape features @ 2:30 text that IS NOT on the DVD stating:

"On May 18,1978 the motion picture you have just seen was shown to an audience of world press at the Cannes Film Festival.... 43 days later the United States and Turkey entered into formal negotations for the exchange of prisoners."

BTW best Giorgio Moroder score ever

  • @Honigdrohne0221 Yea, I am sure Billy Hayes was treated very nice in Turkey. He was given candy and McDonald's (Big Mac and fries) every day. I am also sure that he can't wait to visit the Turkish prisons again.

  • Never go to Turkey for vacations!!!!

  • Don't do drugs or smuggle and there is no trouble!

  • @LazaGuru Ok I ´ll do this. =)

  • Nooooo! This is the original ending! I saw it at the Southampton Movie Theater in mid July !978 on my 14th birthday! I remember the "prisoner exchange" part.

  • @Honigdrohne0221 This story in the movie is different from the real one, but you can't say that Hayes was treated well in Turkey. I suggest you download and watch ''The Real Midnight Express'' from the National Geographic series ''Locked up Abroad''. You can also find it as ''Banged up Abroad''. There you will see Hayes himself saying how he was tortured in prison, and in what conditions he was. Check it out.

  • @LazaGuru Why don´t you just simply give in "Midnight Express Truth Billy Hayes" on YT? There is an interview where he confirmed that he was treated good in turkish prison! But I guess it is easier to spread bs on YT =(

  • @LazaGuru Bullshit. The prisons in Turkey are ok. Please google Billy Hayes, he said they treated him right. Or Marco Weiss, a German student who spent almoust one year in a Turkish prison, and had no problems there. Prisons in other countries are much more worse.

  • @lazerbeak2125 This movie's story is not real. Search for İnterview with the real Billy Hayes.

  • indimenticabile - unforgettable - nezabivaemoe
