I heard this song 12 years ago when I was searching for my birthdaughter that I relinquished 33 years earlier.I found her that same year and when we reunited I sang this song to her....as we both had tears running down our face, she hugged me so tight and said ."Yes Mama you did the right thing, I love you so much" Thank you for writing this song....I know it will continue to touch more and more mothers and daughters who are touched by adoption.

Thank you for making this slideshow. I am in favor of open adoption records and hope that all states will have open their adoption records.

I have writen a reply to the comments of tocarol........Beautiful! Closed records hurt mothers and their lost children. No one can begin to heal until wihout an understanding of how adoption impacted them. Please Open Records for those of us who lost the most - Natural Parents & Adoptees.

I completely agree with you though some may see me as biased! I being a natural mother, while I have an appreciation for adoptive parents, have a hard time understanding how the feelings of the natural parent and child are not top priority. Please tell me what harm it causes the adoptive parents(or anyone!)...other than their fear (real or imagined) that "they" may bond and suffer a loss themselves!!!!?????

It moved me to tears, love your message and the topics covered, I am adopted to. In Australia our laws changed in 1988 - Adoption records became available - you could obtain "non identifying" information. The irony of it!! I had 6 years with my birthmother before I lost her to cancer. I created a greeting card business for relationships resulting from separation, loss and reunification as a legacy to my birth mum. Go to "Reunite Cards", Google will get you there. Let me know what you think

As an adoptee you are doing Right. He will ask many many questions. we do look to you our MOTHER/MOM for all the answers.I thank you for being a adoptive parent.

So, so true. I am in reunion with my daughter for the past 9 years. She has told me that she never thought of me over the years, never would have searched. I think she is angry with me but is afraid to say so. I will always regret the day I signed those papers.
