Aretha Franklin is truly one of a kind. She can take a song that was not necessarily written for her and put her stamp on it making it an "original" Aretha performance. This was the case with "Oh Me, Oh My (I'm A Fool for You Baby) released in early 1972. This 1971 performance was absolutely stunning!
A nod to Jimmy Doris of the Stoics for writing this beautiful song.

Personally I like Lulu's version better - the song doesn't need all the extra stuff Aretha throws in.

Apparently, you must be deaf if you honestly are trying to compare Aretha to Lulu. And by the way, I happen to like LuLu, but we're talking about the difference between a sparkling diamond and a piece of glass!

His name was Jimmy Doris. He was in a band called The Stoics before he wrote this - some info on the web!
