Aretha Franklin is truly one of a kind. She can take a song that was not necessarily written for her and put her stamp on it making it an "original" Aretha performance. This was the case with "Oh Me, Oh My (I'm A Fool for You Baby) released in early 1972. This 1971 performance was absolutely stunning!
A nod to Jimmy Doris of the Stoics for writing this beautiful song.

  • OR she can do the same kind of hack job as she did with "The Weight

  • This song is one of my all time fave Miss Ree surely says it all!

  • Personally I like Lulu's version better - the song doesn't need all the extra stuff Aretha throws in.

  • Aretha RULES!

  • @queenvme Thats fine, to each his own. I like LuLu better.

  • @mrstevehartman :

Apparently, you must be deaf if you honestly are trying to compare Aretha to Lulu. And by the way, I happen to like LuLu, but we're talking about the difference between a sparkling diamond and a piece of glass!

  • THE 45 WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED AS ATLANTIC 2838 OCT 11,1971 THE FLIP SIDE OF ROCK STEADY.THE LP WAS ISSUED AS ATLANTIC SD7213 JAN24,1972 ,AND IT'S THE FIRST SONG ON SIDE ONE MEMORIES ,GREAT MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD.

  • Does not hold a candle to Lulu's version !

  • Oh me, Oh my, I am a Fool for you Baby!!!!!!!
