I lost 2 questions while editing, don't know what happened :/
15.Is Abortion Evil?
I dont like the term evil used in this context, but I would say that sometimes is a necessary evil. I think bringing an unwanted child into the world is worst. And I think in this time and age is unacceptable NOT to teach sexual education in schools because that would significantly reduce the number of abortions.
17.Should we try to save animals from going extinct
Yes, if we are the ones who pushed them on the verge of extinction.

Another way to look at the situation is this: keeping in mind how the peer review process works, would YOU wish to be the one who questions one of the leading authorities in your area? That's an enormous risk and a good way to end up on someone's blacklist. And sure, science is pretty adept at catching and exposing false ideas, but all we have are data on the successes. How many erroneous claims yet remain as established facts?

@LilDrummerBoy74
If you think it's necessary for specific examples, then I might be able to dig up something. I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from many researchers across a variety of fields (e.g. psychology, sociology, marketing, biology), and they've all talked about the buddy system of academia. If a person establishes himself as a founder of a certain method or a new study, he is usually one of the most cited individuals in the area. (continued)

@TeapotMullah I don't mean to challenge but do you have an example? Sorry. If this is the case the theory will eventually be proven false. Sure people may get by in the preliminary stages of developing a theory but this cannot last forever. For example there were a few accounts of false fossils being claimed to be evidence for evolution. Although these were accepted for a while, probably because of the buddy system you speak of, it was eventually proven to be a fake. I may be wrong.

@LilDrummerBoy74
Sorry dude, but that's just patently false. Peer review in science is very much a buddy system. It shouldn't be that way, but that's just how it is.

@emaan456 that's the beauty of science. No ones ideas get preferential treatment. A statement must stand for itself to be considered valid.
LilDrummerBoy74 1 week ago
@emaan456 Of course not. I never said that. I agree with many of her points, having asked myself similar questions. But my agreeing with her is because her statements make sense, not just because she is "famous". That's Ad Vericundiam or an Argument from Authority which is a logical fallacy. I think she is smart and funny because I agree with her approach; I don't agree because she is smart and funny.

@LilDrummerBoy74 if some one is smart and funny...does it mean he or she is right in all matters?
