During the recent PubCon South at Austin 2011 conference in Texas, PubCon video content producer Vanessa Zamora caught up with Raven Internet Marketing Tools product marketing manager and PubCon speaker Taylor Pratt. Pratt shared news of the most recent Raven partnership with Universal Business Listings that will allow Raven users to purchase local business listings through Raven, with the added advantage of the ability to manage the listings from one centralized location on the Raven platform.

Raven is an online marketing tool-set for search engine optimization (seo) and social media marketing that takes popular third-party tools and puts them in one location, providing the ability to access multiple data sources in one place, Pratt explained. The Raven project management tool service ranges in cost from $19 up to $249 per month. Pratt went on to explain that Raven differs from their competitors by focusing on more than one niche, which minimizes time spent jumping from tool to tool. Rather than having to make connections on a spreadsheet, Raven does the data mining for you, Pratt added.

In addition to his role at Raven, Pratt also contributes on a monthly basis to Search Engine Journal on the topic of social media tools, where he writes about developing a deeper approach to analytics for increasing social media engagement beyond merely counting Twitter or Facebook fans. Metrics analysis is done on a case-by-case basic, according to Pratt, but often focuses on finding and measuring what and when social media sharing leads to engagement. Looking at or even which topics and times frames produce the most engagement among industry competitors can also help determine what will work, Pratt added.

Looking ahead, Pratt predicted that search engine optimization (SEO) and social media, both forms of online marketing, will be seen as being more interconnected as the industry begins to view marketing campaigns in their entirety and not just as separate components.
