It would be an honor to hear this work of art in full motion again. I have seen it in person, the static display at the museum is just not the same.

To see these videos of this engine running is a heart breaker. Many people forget the tragic accident this same engine had in the Dismal Swamp on one excursion.
I had the misfortune of being on that train when the derailment happened. Traveling at a speed that was exceeding 90mph, one of the passenger cars picked a switch, ripping the coupler off the car I happened to be in. Everything behind car 7 turned into piles of twisted metal, and where I was about to go with my grandfather was gone.

This is hard to watch.Even 17 years later.

@HaloCE14 I will stress ONE LAST TIME that the 3713 is being paid for by a local chapter, and the work is being down by Steamtown and (now for some parts) Diversified Rail. There have been some slow moments when steamtown personell were stretched then. However, there were several pauses due to insufficient funds at the time. Don't assume you know that Steamtown can't restore and engine based off the 3713, and especially off the1361.
At the time of running did they know it would be the last? Or was that decided later on?

It was known, and the locomotive even ran under black flags.
