I picked up my few pieces of clothing, shoving them into my old bag that I had found laying around in the house one day. I winced with each movement while I could, knowing that when I stepped out of this door I could make no sign of my pain.
I took one last look at my room, then closed the door. I walked down the old staircase, ignoring the curious glares and loud shouts of the other children around me. I followed the sound of Mrs. Nason's voice into her office, and knocked softly.
Inside were three boys. All three had curly hair, one had black while the othe two had brown. They looked vaguely familiar. As I pondered this, the one closest to me, he had short brown hair and his sleeved rolled to his elbows, reached out a hand. I shrunk back from it, fear of it coming in contact with my face prominant.
He drew his hand back at once. I looked to Mrs. Nason, who said, "Michelle, this is your family. Your REAL family. These are your brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick."
Hearing their names brought who they were into my mind. They were that famous group of brothers. I heard one of their songs...Paranoid was the name I think. I didn't listen to a lot of music because we weren't really aloud too.
"You're free to go," Mrs. Nason said with a smile. The three boys stood, shook the woman's hand, then led the way out. I followed behind them silently.
Once outside the orphanage, I finally took enough notice to see that the youngest and one who had tried to shake my hand, Nick, was on crutches. I wondered what happened to his leg, but didn't ask. Suddenly, the oldest knelt down in front of me next to their SUV.
"Hello Michelle, I'm Kevin," he said. I took a small step back. I may be twelve, but I'm not even five feet tall. I'm at least a foot shorter than them all, which did not help with my fear of them. "Do you want to go shopping for some clothes and things for your room?"
He wants to buy stuff for me, and he had a warm smile on his face. He seemed nice, but I was still scared. I gave him a small nod. He stood to his full heigth and disappeared around to the other side of the vehicle. Joe opened the door for me.
I climbed in and kept my face blank while screaming on the inside from the pain on my bottom and back. Nick was beside me, his crutches being abandoned in the back seat. He reached over me and beside my head, and I flinched back, squeezing my eyes shut. They opened when nothing hit me. I watched as he pulled the seatbelt over me and buckled it up.
"We always wear our seat belt," he said.
I looked out the window as Kevin pulled away from the foster home. I watched the passing cars and the amazing city as we drove to wherever they were taking me to shop. I had never had anyone buy something for me. All the clothes I wore were hand-me-downs from older girls.
Kevin pulled up to a large department store called 'Bed, Bath, and Beyond'. He got out, along with my brothers. I unbuckled my seat belt and hopped out. I walked with a little distance between me and them. I don't trust people remember?
"Michelle?" Joe asked. "What's your favorite color?"
We were standing in front of a wall of colors, paint colors. I looked at them all and pointed at three: Orange, blue, and purple.
"All three?" Joe asked me. I nodded, and he walked over to the counter. I turned back to the colors, until Joe returned carrying three cans of paint, which he placed into the basket Kevin was wheeling around.
"Time for bed shopping!" Nick said.
I followed them once again. When I turned a corner, I saw rows of beds. I walked over to one queen-sized, and touched it. It was soft, really soft, compared to the rock-hard ones we had at the orphanage. I crawled up onto it.
"You like this one?" Nick asked me, smiling. I nodded again.

They ended up taking me shopping for everything. When it came to clothes though, they called their girlfriends. I loved Dani, Sel, and Demi. They were really nice. I allowed them to touch me, but I still didn't speak.
I walked around holding Selena's hand while Demi and Dani led the way to the different stores. They helped me pick out stuff, but they waited outside while I changed. Luckily everything I tried on was long enough to cover my injuries. They bought everything with a card Kevin had handed Dani when they arrived.
While we were working with clothes, my brothers had left with the other stuff to head home. I was exhausted when I finally got to their house, which I guess was now hy home. Demi carried me inside and up the stairs. She opened one of the doors, and my eyes widened.
It was my room. Orange, blue, and purple painted walls. The bed I picked out, and a little desk. Stuffed animals were on top of the bed, along with four fluffy pillows. I had everything I could ask for.
Demi sat me on the bed, kissed my forehead, then left. Minutes later, my brothers entered.
