The last part of my experiences, after an Acoustin Neuroma was removed from my head. This part tells of my recovery today and what I have to deal with. There is not much information out there about this type of brain tumor, so I hope this might inform people with the same health issue, of the possible side effects of an Acoustic Neuroma.

Sorry about repeating myself throughout this video series. My head was really screwed on wrong. I was kind of in a daze and not thinking clearly for the first few months after my operation. I was definitely not myself. lol That's probably why I posted the videos and didn't give a damn. Now that my common sense has returned, I don't think I would have posted those videos. It was the constant spinning in my head that caused the effect. Once it stopped, I went back to the person I was before the operation. (Well, not exactly lol) It's amazing how a constantly spinning head can change your thinking and effect your whole personality. I'm still bewildered about that. lol

  • sometimes i keep asking myself... why me?! why brain tumor?! life is a great thing... altho all of us wastes it...

  • Hey, life happens. Be thankful you don't live in Haiti. Life can always be worse, so count your blessings and try to enjoy the life you have. (as tough as that sometimes can be) I think it's best to try to keep a positive attitude.

  • Thank you for posting your experience and recovery ! I admire your positive attitude. In 12/2009 I was diagnosed with a 10 mm (1cm) Acoustic Nueroma on the left side. I'm facing upcoming surgery in Feb. I'm trying to be optimistic and positive but the truth is I am scared.

  • Well you're getting it out when it's small, so I imagine you will not have the problems I've had. In this case, size matters. People with smaller acoustic neuromas seem to fare much better, so you are very lucky you found it at an early stage. Best of luck with the surgery. Think positive!

  • I found your video after searching acoustic neuromas again. I had one removed January 2008. I had some major complications after the surgery. My neck and head started to swell and at 2 in the morning, the doctors had to do an emergency cricothyrotomy on me. The following morning, I was taken again into the OR and a trach was placed in my throat. I am feeling much better now. The trach did come out after about two months.

  • Oh no, the AN is bad enough, never mind the complications like that. I'm glad to hear you're ok now. It seems like just about everybody who has a AN removed, has problems afterwards. It's just some get off a little easier than others.

  • @TorontoEdmonton I have different, arguably scarier problems (cauda equina syndrome) and I think the same way as you do. Someone once told me, "that's a good attitude," but I just see it as there is no utility in despair/depression. It's wasted energy. I'd rather occupy my time, and focus my energy on other things. If pressed to think about it, I'm reminded of a teenage girl I once knew who died of Leukemia, How can I complain in the face of that? Anyway, thanks for the vid. Keep moving forward.
